Discovering Anatomy: A Guided Examination of the Cadaver serves as an "active atlas," delivering high-quality photographs of cadavers, coupled with interactive activities to guide students through the systems and structures of the human body.

This unique workbook can be used in cadaver-based anatomy lab courses to provide an enhanced experience, or in courses that use other means, such as models, to achieve a better understanding of anatomical structures. It can be used as a stand-alone resource, or in conjunction with other lab materials.

About the Authors
Features
  • Getting Acquainted sections contain workbook exercises designed to familiarize students with the vocabulary and anatomical structures they will identify during the lab. These activities include writing definitions and descriptions, coloring black and white line drawings, labeling diagrams to help students retain the information, and other activities that will prepare students for their time in the lab.
  • Objectives state the learning goals for what students are expected to know after completing each chapter.
  • Materials Lists are provided to ensure students have the necessary materials and are prepared for lab ahead of time.
  • Observing sections are hands-on lab exercises in which students observe a cadaver or model, identify anatomical structures, complete fill-in-the-blank exercises, and, in some cases, draw what they observe. These activities help students correctly identify structures and understand their functions.
  • High-quality photographs of carefully dissected cadavers, X-rays, radiographs, and micrographs are included. These labeled images provide students with excellent visual support for their lab work.
  • Clinical Applications boxes throughout the book offer students a window into the practical relevance of the content by discussing issues, such as ACL tears and kidney stones, that they might encounter as medical professionals, .
  • Weird and Wacky sidebars are intended to help engage students with the material by providing interesting and fun insights and trivia that connect the functions of various organ systems to everyday life.
  • Wrapping Up sections provide an opportunity for students to review the content covered in the chapter and practiced in the lab. These activities check student recall and understanding of the material covered in the chapter and can be handed in for grading.
