Two major additions featured throughout the book will be especially valuable to both instructors and students who use this guide. To help identify the region of the body in which a photograph was taken, many of the photographs are accompanied by an illustration of the entire body of the cat with the appropriate region of the body highlighted. Additionally, to better exemplify the link between cat and human anatomy, the authors have highlighted text throughout the book that draws comparisons between cat and human anatomy.

The format used in the muscular section is a systematic, regional treatment of muscle groups with a brief description of the muscle and a fairly detailed description of the origin, insertion, and action of each. The skeletal section is very detailed, with careful descriptions of individual bones and their relationships to each other and the entire system.
